Mode of selection:Through counselling (State level)
To apply for the General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) Course, candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements:
Age Requirement: The candidate must have completed 17 years of age by 31st December 2024, meaning the candidate should have been born on or before 31st December 2007.
Educational Qualification:
Candidates must have passed 10+2 (any stream: Arts, Science, or Commerce) with English as one of the subjects and obtained a minimum of 40% marks from CHSE Odisha or an equivalent board.
Preference will be given to candidates with a Science background.
Alternatively, candidates from State Open Schools recognized by the state government or the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) recognized by the central government can apply if they have scored a minimum of 40% marks.
Candidates with ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwife) Certification with a 10+2 pass are also eligible to apply.
Candidates with a Vocational ANM course (with English and 40% marks) from a recognized institution approved by the Indian Nursing Council can apply.
Vocational stream - Health Care Science candidates (with English and 40% marks) from a recognized CBSE Board, State, or Central Board are eligible to apply.
Relaxation for SC/ST Candidates: A 5% relaxation in marks is provided to SC/ST candidates.
ASHA Workers: ASHA workers who have passed 10+2 with 40% marks (with a 5% relaxation for SC/ST candidates) are eligible to apply.
Language Requirement: Candidates must have passed minimum M.E. Standard Odia (only for those applying through central counseling).
Domicile Requirement: The candidate must be a domicile of Odisha or a permanent resident of Odisha (this applies to candidates applying through government counseling).
Gender: Both female and male candidates are eligible to apply.
Medical Fitness: The candidate must be medically fit for the course. A medical certificate (as per the format in annexure -V) is required.
